The Supervised Visitation Institute (SVI), which maintains professional standards and a national directory for the supervised visitation field, announced today that it will serve as standards and credentialing advisor for a $2 million, three-year initiative to expand access to professional supervised visitation across the United States, funded by affiliated provider organization TruVisit National.

The access gap is measurable.

Across the country, families ordered into supervised visitation face two systemic barriers: rural counties with no professional provider within reasonable driving distance, and metropolitan providers so oversubscribed that waiting lists stretch two to three months. During those months, court-ordered parenting time simply does not happen.

Under the initiative, SVI's role will focus on the supply side of the problem:

  • Credentialing new supervisors — background standards, training requirements, and a code of ethics for every supervisor entering the field through the initiative.
  • Standards compliance — visit protocols, documentation timelines, and neutrality requirements consistent with what family courts expect.
  • Directory transparency — all credentialed providers, including non-affiliated agencies, remain listed in SVI's national directory so families and courts can find services in their county.

"The field's problem has never been demand — it's a shortage of trained, accountable supervisors," said SVI's standards board. "This initiative funds the pipeline: recruiting, credentialing, and holding to standard the professionals every family court depends on."

Providers interested in credentialing, and families or court professionals seeking services, can visit the national directory at supervisedvisitationinstitute.com.

The Supervised Visitation Institute and the provider brands listed in its directory, including TruVisit, commit to published network standards. SVI publishes the standards its network members commit to; it is not an independent third-party accreditor of those brands. See the governance statement.
